A mini-facelift is a safe and excellent procedure designed to improve sagging and laxity around the cheeks, jawline, and specific areas of the neck. However, rather than addressing more advanced signs of aging, the mini-facelift is designed to correct only mild to moderate degrees of age-related concerns. Dr. Miller offers a unique and longer lasting mini-facelift in Aliso Viejo for Orange County residents who want to look Refreshed, but who may not require or desire a more extensive lifting procedure. The mini-facelift results are completely natural, and have the advantage of being performed with only mild sedation in our accredited surgery center.

Case 8: Facelift
This is a wonderful and energetic lady who in her fifties began seeking improvement in her appearance. She was concerned with her tired and sad appearing eyes and the developing laxity in her lower face. Additionally, she had a scar on her left cheek that she wanted removed and the quality of her skin was a concern as well; indeed, she had spent a great deal of time in the sun.During our consultation we discussed a deep plane mini-lift that would address her lower facial laxity. Her neck was not ...
Case 20: Facelift
This is an excellent example of how sometimes a few procedures can be combined to produce an amazing improvement in one’s appearance. Simply performing a facelift or laser would not have produced the results seen here. This 60 year old professional woman desired to “look better” and appear less “mean” to others; and unfortunate misconception by others as she was the sweetest of people. She understood that simply improving her contours with a “High-SMAS” f ...
Case 91: Facelift
This patient consulted with Dr. Miller seeking options for her lower face and neck laxity, but desiring natural results, not a pulled or altered appearance. During the consultation process the topic of chin augmentation to enhance the neck and jawline was discussed. The pictures depict her results from a lower face and neck lift with chin augmentation at 9 months and 1 1/2 years results (3D images). Notice her scars are well hidden and imperceptible even on close inspectio ...
Case 96: Facelift
When patients have significant degrees of laxity and fullness in the neck, a combined lower face and neck lift is typically the best choice. Moreover, non-surgical and mini-lift procedures will not be able to achieve the results illustrated here. This patient had a high-SMAS lower face and neck lift completed by Dr. Miller. No other procedures were performed, although fractional CO2 laser skin resurfacing would improve her skin’s texture and the other lines and wrinkles no ...

A comprehensive evaluation is an essential ingredient for any successful surgical outcome. That is why Dr. Miller takes the necessary time to carefully assess each patient's unique personal features before any treatment plan is begun. Once Dr. Miller has assessed that instead of a complete facelift, a mini-facelift will provide enough correction to meet your aesthetic goals, both of you will discuss the procedure details, recovery time, and your expected results. He will review the benefits of your mini-facelift, including:
- A more natural and Refreshed appearance
- Smoother, firmer skin
- Imperceptible incisions which enables you to wear any hairstyle with confidence
- A reduction in the prominence of wrinkles in the mid- to lower-face
- Disappearance of the jowls along jawline and upper neck
- More defined and youthful facial contours

Common Questions or Concerns
What is the difference between a facelift and a mini-facelift? Facelift and mini-facelift surgeries are both quite effective for rejuvenation of the lower face and neck. While a facelift can improve more significant signs of aging, a mini-facelift is often the best choice when a patient wishes to treat milder signs of aging and the laxity in the neck is very minimal. Mini-facelift surgery is especially appealing because it typically requires fewer and shorter incisions that heal to imperceptible scars that stay very well hidden, even when you wear your hair up or back. To learn more about facelift incisions, view this blog post by Dr. Miller.
A mini-facelift may also be a good option if you've previously undergone full facelift surgery but are in need of a "touch-up." If you decide to undergo a mini-facelift, you can expect to see improved tone, definition, and volume in your cheeks, jawline, and neck. Although these changes are subtle, they can take years off your face and are quite long-lasting.
What will my recuperation be like? Although recovery following a mini-facelift is generally easier than that of a traditional facelift, it is still important to give yourself enough time to rest and relax at home. Mini-facelift patients often feel and look well enough to return to work and other social activities within 1 week of surgery. By this point, bruising and discoloration should be faint enough to be covered with makeup.
It's also important to keep your head elevated as much as possible, even overnight, in order to reduce unnecessary swelling. You can manage any discomfort with pain medicine Dr. Miller prescribes. It's important to avoid vigorous exercise and other activities that can raise your blood pressure for the first 1 to 2 weeks, because they can also lead to swelling, scar irregularities, and other complications. During your follow-up appointments, Dr. Miller will gradually clear you to resume your typical activities.
How long will my results last? You can expect the results of your mini-facelift to last for several years. The exact duration of your results depends on the severity of your symptoms, the surgical technique Dr. Miller uses, and the way you care for your skin after surgery. Although surgery doesn't stop the aging process, it can set the clock back several years.
Are there any non-surgical alternatives to mini-facelift? Yes. Depending on your specific anatomy and goals, Dr. Miller often recommends a variety of options. For instance, the FDA-cleared micro-focused ultrasound treatment, also known as Ultherapy®, is a popular option for those patients looking for non-surgical lifting and tightening treatments. Other options may include targeted facial sculpting with injectable dermal fillers including Sculptra®, VOLUMA® XC, JUVÉDERM®, RADIESSE®, BELOTERO BALANCE®, and Restylane®. Although these products do not yield results that are as long-lasting as those of a mini-facelift, they can be a great alternative for stubborn lines and areas of lost volume. Their results are instantaneous, and treatments don't typically require any sort of downtime.
Dr. Miller may recommend a more comprehensive non-surgical facelift, which is a procedure that uses strategic administration of both BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers to selectively improve various areas of the face.Request a Consultation
