Ptosis ("Toe-sis") is a common condition that affects one or both of the upper eyelids. Specifically, the upper eyelid will be in an unnatural, lower position or appear to droop down and cover too much of the colored portion of the eye. Most people with mild ptosis will notice "something's wrong" in photographs, where one eye will appear more closed or perhaps smaller than the other eye.
Orange County residents from Newport Beach, Laguna Hills, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Laguna Beach trust Dr. Timothy Miller for medical and cosmetic facial procedures. If ptosis is causing one or both of your eyelids to droop, request your consultation online or call us at (949) 215-5402 to meet with Dr. Miller.Doctor Meet

Correcting Your Ptosis
Most of Dr. Miller's patients who undergo ptosis correction are consulting him regarding tired, sad appearing eyes. Ptosis can be the only cause for the tired appearance but ptosis is often seen with excess skin in the upper eyelids and lower eyelid "bags." If the excess skin and eyelid bags are corrected with eyelid surgery, but the ptosis is not, the eyes will continue to have a tired appearance. For a more Refreshed appearance, the ptosis should be identified and corrected at the same time.

The Extra Touch
For ptosis, Dr. Miller typically uses an "inside" technique that leaves no visible scar. The technique is performed under local anesthesia with mild sedation, and can be performed with other procedures including blepharoplasty, facelift, fat augmentation, and laser resurfacing.Request a Consultation
