Our BOTOX in Orange County is a popular option for restoring a refreshed, more youthful appearance without surgery. The beauty of these anti-aging treatments is that they require almost no recovery time and deliver subtle but significant results. Dr. Timothy R. Miller uses BOTOX at his Aliso Viejo office in Orange County, CA to soften lines and wrinkles, elevate the eyebrows or corners of the mouth, and reduce the prominence of neckbands.

What is BOTOX?

Today, surgery isn't the only option when it comes to looking younger. Within the past several years, non-surgical treatments have seen a tremendous growth in popularity, particularly due to their convenience and affordable price point.

BOTOX is a high-performance wrinkle reducer that allows for effective correction of dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial movements. Many patients are unaware that BOTOX has been proven to actually delay the progression of lines and wrinkles if used consistently. Each treatment takes only minutes, requires no time away from work, and provides results that last for 3 months or more.

BOTOX can treat the following:

  • Frown lines
  • Crow’s feet
  • Forehead furrows
  • Marionette lines
  • Under-eye creases
  • Neckbands
  • A square jaw
  • A gummy smile

How much does BOTOX cost?

The cost of BOTOX in Orange County is dependent on the number of “units” used. The typical amount of BOTOX used by Dr. Miller is around 5-10 units per side for the forehead, 25-30 units per side for the jawline, and 10-12 units per side for crow’s feet. Our current unit charge for BOTOX $13/unit. We will provide a full quote for you at the time of your personalized consultation with our team.

What are the medical uses for BOTOX?

In addition to aesthetic benefits, BOTOX injections also have a number of medical applications, including treatment of migraines, muscle spasms, jaw tension, and chronic pain. Dr. Miller is experienced in using BOTOX for both aesthetic and functional purposes.

Non-cosmetic uses for BOTOX include:

  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating)
  • Crossed eyes
  • Eye spasms
  • Cervical dystonia
  • Migraine headaches
  • Bladder spasms
  • TMJ

How does BOTOX work?

BOTOX contains medically engineered botulinum toxin, which, in small amounts, can visibly reduce dynamic wrinkles and lines caused by laughing, squinting, frowning, or smiling. The toxin temporarily incapacitates the tiny contracting facial muscles that are responsible for forming wrinkles. With the muscles blocked, the skin smooths out and appears more youthful and radiant.

Some clients may worry that BOTOX might change their facial expressions or alter their unique essence. This is not true. BOTOX results look natural and elegant when performed by an experienced injector such as the practitioners at Refreshed Aesthetic Surgery & Skincare. The effects of BOTOX last about 3-4 months, at which point the patient can repeat their treatment, or they can allow their face to return to how it looked before.

What are the procedure steps?

  • Dr. Miller will strategically administer BOTOX in Orange County using controlled, precise injections.
  • You will be able to return to work or home immediately with no special aftercare.
  • It takes several days for the muscles to relax; full results usually appear within 3 to 10 days.

What is BOTOX for jaw contouring?

Clenching the jaw or grinding the teeth habitually, in times of stress or when you are sleeping, can cause large masseter (jaw) muscles to overdevelop with time. BOTOX injections can soften and relax the appearance of a squared-off jaw, slimming and contouring the lower face. In many cases, BOTOX treatments also weaken and shrink the masseter muscles, reducing the force of grinding and clenching to help protect the health and strength of your teeth.

Who makes an ideal candidate for BOTOX?

For those clients who wish to reduce the signs of aging but who aren’t quite ready for invasive facial surgery, BOTOX is an excellent choice. It provides more dramatic wrinkle-smoothing results than over-the-counter creams and lotions but is non-invasive enough that it allows the patient to return to their normal schedule directly after treatment.

Good candidates for BOTOX are frustrated with dynamic lines that have formed as a result of repetitive facial movements. They are healthy non-smokers who have realistic expectations for their outcomes.

What results can I expect after my treatment?

One of the reasons BOTOX is so popular is that there is virtually no downtime with this treatment. The procedure can be performed in a matter of minutes, and patients are typically able to return to their normal activities immediately afterward. For many patients, this gives BOTOX a distinct advantage over invasive, surgical treatments with more extensive recovery times.

Minor redness or swelling may occur at the injection sites, but these side effects fade quickly. Dr. Miller suggests that you avoid the following for 48 hours after BOTOX injections: alcoholic beverages, strenuous exercise, hot tubs, and excessive exposure to the sun.

BOTOX FAQs

Is BOTOX safe? Are there risks or side effects?

BOTOX and other neuromodulators, such as Xeomin, are exceedingly safe and cleared by the FDA for cosmetic treatments. The risk of side effects are extremely rare, especially in the hands of experienced injectors. Dr. Timothy R. Miller has been injecting BOTOX in Orange County for nearly 20 years.

The most common side effect, which is rare with Dr. Miller, is bruising. This can be substantially reduced by avoiding herbal supplements (e.g., fish oils), aspirin, and ibuprofen one week prior to your treatment. Dr. Miller uses special, tiny needles to reduce the discomfort and possibilities of bruising during the procedure.

Can BOTOX be combined with any other treatments?

Yes! BOTOX is often combined with dermal fillers to comprehensively improve the facial appearance from top to bottom. Dermal fillers combat volume loss and can fill in depressions and indentations related to static wrinkles, while BOTOX is unbeatable in terms of reducing dynamic lines.

Will my results look natural?

Yes. Unusual looks are uncommon with BOTOX and typically occur with inexperienced injectors at BOTOX parties, salons, and other non-medical offices. Dr. Miller is well known for delivering natural, refreshed results with BOTOX.

What is the difference between BOTOX and Xeomin?

BOTOX and Xeomin are made from the organic molecule botulinum toxin A, a protein that relaxes muscles and inhibits their movements that cause dynamic wrinkles. When used correctly, these products are used to soften facial expression lines, but there are some slight differences between them. Some variations between BOTOX and Xeomin include price, onset of results, longevity of results, and dosing. Dr. Miller will discuss the advantages and tradeoffs of each during your personal consultation.

Is BOTOX used in a liquid facelift?

Yes. A liquid facelift is a common term whose definition may differ. Generally, a liquid facelift refers to the use of fillers (e.g. Juvéderm) or bio-collagen-stimulators, such as Sculptra, to refresh the face through volume augmentation. BOTOX does not add volume, but the relaxing and smoothing of specific muscles can have a synergistic effect with a liquid facelift.

How many injections are given in one treatment?

The number of injections is dependent on the areas or muscles being treated. The number can range from 2 to 12 or more.

When will I start seeing the results?

Typically, patients will start noticing the effects of BOTOX in 2 to 4 days. Some patients will notice the effects sooner, however. The smoothing effects continue to improve for up to 4 weeks.

Can men also receive treatments for BOTOX?

Yes. Men are undergoing BOTOX sessions more than ever. Men prefer BOTOX because it’s quick, has no downtime or post-treatment regimen, and the results are natural.

How long does the BOTOX treatment take?

As opposed to facial cosmetic surgeries like facelift and blepharoplasty, BOTOX takes just a few minutes to be completed. Further, there is nearly zero downtime involved in the procedure.

How long do the results last?

In general, the muscle-relaxing portion of BOTOX lasts 3-4 months, with the smoothing effects of the lines and wrinkles lasting up to 6 months for some patients. Most patients will benefit from BOTOX, including its preventative effects, by having treatments 3 to 4 times a year.

Will there be pain?

BOTOX injections are not painful, and they are over very quickly. The needle used is ultra-thin and is well-tolerated by most patients. You can receive a topical anesthetic to ensure you feel no pain during your treatment.
